Contributing to Global Carbon Neutrality
The environmental impact of video game development is significant, from mining materials for hardware to energy consumption for software processing. To ensure sustainable growth, we are committed to achieving carbon neutrality in our operations. We focus on measuring our global environmental impact and monitoring progress against our targets. Between 2021 and 2023, we successfully achieved carbon neutrality by reducing energy consumption, adopting renewable energy, and offsetting emissions.
Minimizing our Impact on the Environment
We are dedicated to environmental sustainability by fostering a culture of environmental responsibility. Through initiatives such as energy-saving challenges, tree planting, beach clean-ups, and green picnic days, we aim to raise awareness of our environmental impact and work together on making a positive difference.
Furthermore, our Green IT Classroom Program, established with NetSpring in 2019, refurbishes and donates computers to underprivileged youth, reducing electronic waste. Currently operational in China and Vietnam, this program underscores our commitment to minimize environmental impact.

Energy Management
We actively look for opportunities to reduce electricity consumption, such as switching to LEDs or turning off computers and lights during non-working hours.. Since 2022, several studios have adopted a solution which automatically switches off computers after work hours, and tracks or measures the reduction in electricity consumption.
To better monitor energy performance, we are measuring the electricity intensity per employee, including interns, trainees, and external vendors. This is tracked across our largest studios in eight cities. Some studios also implemented smart meters and power plugs to better understand the electricity consumption by type of usage.
Carbon Management
We consider carbon neutrality as an imperative CSR objective. In 2023, we achieved carbon neutrality across our largest studios, representing 97% of employees.
We are working towards our goal of achieving 100% renewable energy across our studios. In 2023, we achieved 97% renewable energy by matching our electricity consumption with RECs. To compensate for our residual emissions, we purchased high-quality carbon credits from fully verified projects National Bio Energy Tongliao Biomass Power Plant in China, and Grouped Projects for Mekong River Delta Water Purifier in Vietnam. These credits have since been retired, saving 4,293 tons of CO2 emissions from being released into the atmosphere.
Green Office
In 2023, Virtuos Singapore achieved the highest tier of Elite in the Eco Office Assessment, a certification program organized by the Singapore Environmental Council. Following this, an internal eco office assessment was deployed across other studios to identify best practices and opportunities for improvement. Studios continuously embark on various environmental office initiatives and cultivate employee awareness, such as:
- Communicate regularly on environmental targets, the Group Environmental Policy and Procurement Policy through the intranet and studio meetings.
- Use eco-friendly appliances such as LED lights and ENERGY STAR certified appliances whenever possible.
- Provide reusable mugs and cutlery to encourage staff to eliminate the use of single-use plastics.
- Establish recycling infrastructures to facilitate better waste management and ensure that the different waste streams are properly sorted. Through this, we aim to inculcate recycling habits among our employees.
